This house was one of our first projects in Malibu after moving here in 1994. It is an honest interpretation of a Martha’s Vineyard seaside home. Utilizing several of the traditional thematic elements (dormers, curved walls and windows, covered porches) of the eastern seaboard, we combined them into volumes that enclosed the various rooms and spaces in a logical sequence, while creating a delightful aesthetic on view from all aspects of the site. The “L” shaped floor plan allowed for the owners to enjoy the visual pleasures of the outside of the house from the comfort of the inside.
